Jessica Alba Wins Big With The Honest Company

If you have had a baby at any point in the last decade you have probably seen The Honest Company diapers in the diaper aisle at Target. However, what you may not know is that the completely organic brand is actually owned by actress Jessica Alba. Alba created The Honest Company was founded in 2011, but today it is a household brand favored by moms who want to make sustainable and organic choices when it comes to baby products.

The Idea for The Honest Company Came from a Skin Rash

Jessica Alba hadn't thought much about the importance of completely organic and natural baby products until her firstborn developed a rash as a result of her laundry detergent. She realized it was hard to find chemical-free baby care products as most had synthetic fragrances or petrochemicals inside of them. The more she thought about it the more it weighed on her, and she decided to take action by creating her own consumer goods company that only offers natural and organic products.

The Honest Company Took Off Almost Every Night

It turned out that Jessica Alba's idea was actually in high-demand. While she was warned to only launch the brand with a few products, she threw herself into her range and launched The Honest Company in 2011. By 2013 the company had made 50 million dollars worth of sales and in 2014 they more than tripled their sales up to 2014. Parents everywhere appreciated the option of chemical-free diapers and sales continued to skyrocket until the company was valued at a massive 1.7 billion dollars by the end of August 2015. This year the company is expected to clear 95 million dollars in sales as even the pandemic couldn't slow down sales.

The Honest Company Introduces Honest Beauty

The Honest Company has done so well that the company created a sub-brand known simply as Honest Beauty in 2015. The separate subbrand has its own logo and website and features over 83 products including makeup and skin-care products. All products are free of all chemicals and instead use solely botanicals. The products can be found at large beauty stores and on the company's website. As of right now the products are only available in Canada and the United States but can be easily purchased on Amazon which has no doubt helped the company enhance its spread. It will be interesting to watch The Honest Company continue to grow over the next decade and see what new direction Jessica Alba heads.
