Ryan Reynolds Takes 25% Stake In Mint Mobile

Ryan Reynolds has grown a lot over the last few decades. He has moved from a sitcom character to the man behind Van Wilder and now the soul of the Green Lantern and Deadpool. However, there is more to Ryan Reynolds than just clever tweets, as the actor is actually a clever investor and company owner. He successfully turned Aviation Gin around and sold it for $610 million and is now working on doing the same for Mint Mobile. Mint Mobile is his latest acquisition and for all -intensive purposes, it looks like it's going great. Here is what you need to know about Mint Mobile and Ryan Reynolds.
Ryan Reynolds Leverages His Social Media Presence with His Investments
Ryan knows he has over 50+ followers between Twitter and Instagram, and he uses them well by offering them hilarious content with some laughs in-between. Every single post on his social media accounts offers some type of value to the browsing consumer. For example, the popular Peletron wife advertisement he did for Aviation Gin. What you won't see is a boring ad or an obvious call to action to buy his products, but what you will see is a hilarious comedic bit that just happens to include whatever company he is currently repping- which right now is Mint Mobile.
Ryan Believes in "Fast-vertising"
Technically 'fast-vertising" is not a marketing strategy, it is just what Ryan Reynolds calls his off-the-wall deadpan advertising strategy, but given its success maybe it should be. Ryan uses his straightforward, deadpan sense of humor to market his investments straight to Millenials and their no-nonsense tastes. For example, on Super Bowl Sunday in lieu of an advertisement he took out a full-page ad in the New York Times that said this page was cheaper than a $5 million TV spot and all the savings go back to the customers. Not only was it clever, but the move generated its own free press.
Another recent Mint tactic includes a 5G video explanation, that simply tells customers "we may never know what 5G is, so we'll just give it away for free." It works because it's easy to see Ryan saying the same thing, and we believe him.
Mint Mobile is Gaining Traction
Mint Mobile is already gaining ground since Ryan Reynolds purchased the brand. He credits his successful advertising approach to the fact he owns Maximum Effort- the advertising and investment group he founded to help create a buzz about Deadpool. Ryan jokes that since there is no red tape (he doesn't need permission to do anything) he can get things done fast and keep them on-trend with current viral movements.
